Raising a family in a two parent working household in Ward 6 has helped Alex understand the issues facing you and our kids programs, while having a balanced professional career.
Alex was born and raised in Calgary and on the family ranch in the Foothills with two sisters in a caring and "anything is possible environment" through values instilled by his parents.
After completing a diploma at SAIT in Hospitality, followed by a business degree at the University of Calgary;
Alex was employed in private companies in both Calgary in commercial development as well as Fort McMurray
as an operations coordinator where he experienced Alberta's oil sands industry first hand, and where he met his partner Madeleine.
These business experiences have helped in understanding the execution required to make our Calgary
companies and most importantly, their employees successful.
Alex and Madeleine returned to Calgary in 2008 for him to complete his MBA in
Global Energy Management and Sustainable Development at University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business.
This education created opportunities to be at the forefront of our current energy industry dynamics and its challenges.
He now would like to apply this knowledge and experience to Calgary’s municipal politics.
Since completing his MBA, Alex has worked in clean technology, transportation and logistics,
energy services and in the midstream spaces of our Canadian energy sector.
In these roles he was a driving contributor working with teams to identify and execute projects
and to advance market access which is critical to the global competitiveness of Canada's energy industry.
Madeleine and Alex have two children, an 8 year old son and a 3 year old daughter.
Their family enjoys sports and they love watching their children play and participate in their extra-curricular activities.
Raising a family in a two parent working household in Ward 6 has helped Alex understand the issues facing you and your kids programs,
while having a balanced professional career.
Alex also enjoy giving back and creating positive impact in our communities through not for profits or volunteering.
He has coached Rangers soccer the last two seasons. Alex has participated in community initiatives as founding treasurer for
Kensington Community First Garden and being on the organizing committee for the 2015 Yonex Canada Open - a Badminton Tournament
held at Winsport's Markin MacPhail Centre.
Alex has seen firsthand how community initiatives bring us all together and how important maintaining community institutions are to a healthy, thriving community.
